Men's Ministry
“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. He who has ears, let him hear.” Matthew 11:12-13
As we survey the American Church Culture, we find a real void in men truly committed to their faith and engaged in ministry. God’s word tells us, “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it.” Christ was warning us about evil men (philosophies, principalities, world views) that separate us from relationship with God Almighty. Our Lord tells us to be on the lookout for those who would lead us astray.
Some readers of this weekly devotional are not well acquainted with the ministry that provides me the time to put together these words. I’m honored to be the President and Founder of Outdoor Connection Ministries, previously known as Let’s Go Fishing Ministries. This 27 year-old work has developed hundreds of messages, resource tools, bible studies and five books to help train men to be forceful warriors “in love” for Jesus.
Like in the time of Christ, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2) By empowering more men to take on spiritual leadership in their homes, communities, and the church we will help place many workers into the fields.
It would mean a great deal to me if you would take a minute to visit our website and read through our Year-end Letter. This will acquaint you with the breadth and scope of our ministry.
Pastors across the country seek our HELP with establishing vibrant men’s ministry programs that reach out to their communities. Programs that encourage men in their faith, that help develop effective discipleship tools, that assist the single-parent and disabled populations, and that develop faithful husbands and dads are what keeps us excited about ministry.
Unfortunately, most of America’s churches are too small to afford sufficient staff, resources, or do not have a vision to think of outreach efforts beyond the traditional approaches. OCM has been there to assist, inspire and motivate congregations to reach outside the walls of their church and to love their communities.
For twenty-six years our Lord has graced OCM with many wonderful friends who share our passion for evangelism, discipleship, and strengthening families. Your interest, prayers, and support of OCM will assist us in reaching 5,000 churches over the next five years. That will impact over 250,000 men!
Let’s reclaim our families from the lure and attacks of worldly men who utilize Satan’s resources to create havoc. Help us encourage the development of spiritual “loving and stout-hearted” men to become role models for our youth. Together, we can make a difference. Blessings and have a great Christmas. Jim
