The Sun is Shining Somewhere

“They looked… and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud.” Ex. 16:10

From a weather perspective, the Inland Northwest this past summer had a historic number of sunny days. We love the sun but know that you can’t have the beautiful fall colors without the cloudy cold weather.

Today the clouds are thick and the skies filled with rain.  While it’s a bit gloomy I know the sun is shinning somewhere.

When you think about it, the clouds play an important part in shielding us from the burning sun.  Without the clouds there would be no extravagant sunsets, no life giving rain, and no beautiful landscapes.

The same concept is true about the clouds in our lives.  When hard times come we easily get discouraged.  But behind the clouds God is still present, and can even use them to water our souls and refresh our spirits with unexpected blessings.  Longfellow wrote: “Be still, sad heart, and cease repining; behind the clouds is the sun still shining.”

God reminded the Israelites of old and each one of us that, “Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud.” Ex. 19:9

Whether your personal cloud and dark days be slight, or extreme and frightening, God is with you.  Whatever clouds you face today, ask Jesus, the light of the world, to help you look behind the cloud to see His glory and His plans for you.

“And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.  Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Romans 5:2-4

Have a blessed week.
